Safety Tips for Loading Dumpsters

Here at Vega’s Pro Services, safety is one of our top priorities. If you’re using our services, you might be getting yourself into a big project. This could most likely include tossing heavy items into the dumpster. We have some tips & tricks to keep you safe during the process.

  1. Plan ahead - You always want to know the kind of project you’re getting yourself into. It’s best to take it slow and really assess all the items that can ease the stress of hauling large items into the dumpster. You also want to make sure that you have a clear path from point A to point B. This will save someone from any accidental slips or falls.

  1. Use the most efficient and protective gear - If you’re unfamiliar with using a dumpster, the best advice we can give is to use your resources! Just a quick search online and you can find equipment that will help you tackle your workload. This can be anywhere from dollies, ramps, lifting straps. Also, try to stay away from the comfy slip-on shoes if you can. We all love them, but they likely won’t protect your feet if something were to drop on them.

  1. Save yourself a trip to the chiropractor - You’ve likely heard the saying before - remember to “lift with your legs and not your back.” Don’t be embarrassed to do a bit of stretching beforehand either! Your younger years might be long gone, but that back pain will see you the next morning. You might be able to include a back brace in your equipment.

  1. Take breaks & use the space wisely - The last thing you want to do is overwork yourself. If you have several items that will take up a lot of space in the dumpster, try not to do it all at once. If you plan accordingly, you might be able to play a game of Tetris and fit more in the little spaces in between. This will give you a chance to take a breather from the larger items and work in the smaller ones that need to fit in the dumpster.

We hope these tips can make the process of hauling large and heavy items safer for you. Remember to keep yourself hydrated in this Georgia heat. As always, thank you for choosing Vega’s Pro Services for your dumpster rental needs!
