Top Tips to Get You Ready for 2024

It’s here, 2024, and you've decided to make this your year! You have been telling yourself all January long that you’re going to make the change. Whether it’s minimizing your home, getting rid of items you once saw value in, or you’re ready to redesign a room in your house. The beginning can be overwhelming and Vega's Pro Services is here to help. We’ve been in your shoes before, and we would like to share some tips that have helped us get the ball rolling.

Assess & Prioritize:

The first thing that will help is assessing what your end goal is. Once you have that figured out, you need to start prioritizing where you’re going to begin your journey. Lately, I have been wanting to start minimizing the items that occupy my home. I’ve found that beginning to sort through my house one area at a time is helpful. Yes, one area, and not necessarily a full room. When you look at an entire room, your mind can start jumping all over the room trying to figure out what to clean or pick up first. If you’re anything like me, it can get you demotivated and set you back further.

Sorting:

When you’re going through each area, not everything will be thrown in the dumpster. This is where sorting things out in boxes, trash bags, or even storage bins will be helpful. You’ll want to look at each item and determine whether it will be kept, donated, sold, or you’re ready to completely get rid of it. That’s where we come in to help.

Storage:

So, you have decided to keep a lot more than you anticipated when you started your journey. No worries, there are plenty of ways to incorporate your own storage methods. For example, that coat closet that you had a hard time closing. You know the one, with all the shoes piling up on the floor. There are many options for shoe storage that you can find online. Even if you have your own DIY ideas for your home, come to us with your plan and we can help bring it to life.

Call in the Pros:

Sometimes, you might bite off more than you can chew. In that case, don’t hesitate to call in for help. Whether you call over some friends and family and pay them all with pizza or you decide you need professional help. Either way, you’ll get another pair of hands to help you get rid of an old broken down couch or someone to help keep you motivated and tackle more than one area at a time.

Digital:

This might not be on the top of your list, but decluttering your phone will help you stay on track. This can be anywhere from unsubscribing from emails you no longer need or deleting pictures and videos from your camera roll. One helpful hint for deleting from your camera roll, search for the specific day it is, for example February 1st, and images for that day from the last few years will show up and delete what you no longer find useful.

Starting this journey of going through the various areas in your home will not be a one day event. Remember that any progress is great progress. Always be proud of yourself for the little accomplishments as well as the big ones. If at any point you need assistance, Vega’s Pro Services will be just a phone call away!
